Good environmental stories do not come easy or cheap. They are the result of weeks and often months of research, interviews and travel. Collected here is a sampling of some of my best work over the years, reported from places as distant as the Rift Valley in Ethiopia, the `tar sands’ of Canada and the high country of Yosemite National Park. If you are interested in stories that take you beyond the day’s headlines, you are likely to find something here that will interest you. Click on the links to explore a range of subjects from the hidden costs of Starbucks East African coffee to rain-forest destruction in Indonesia driven by United States and world demand for “green” bio-diesel fuel made from palm oil.
